6th Grade Service Learning
The 6th grade class has been learning about world hunger as our focus for our service learning project this year. After watching a video about young children in Guatemala living in a garbage dump my students wanted to know what we could do to help.
We contacted the Mi Refugio organization, and we will be gathering supplies, raising awareness, and building relationships with the students, teachers, and staff of Mi Refugio. My students hope to become pen pals with the students of Mi Refugio, and will be working on a cross curricular project that will include Spanish, Language Arts, Character Education, Service Learning, and Art classes.
